'What do you use?' - Marissa Barrett

What do you use?- the most common question I hear from clients who frequent my chair… and I understand it. Like most things in our lives there is an over abundance of information floating in cyber space on ‘the best’, ‘the most effective’, ‘the healthiest’ hair care products. You just want a simple answer, so I have done my best to get that for you. Through this series, I ask my colleagues, friends and hair idols… “What do you use?”.

Now we are not physicians or biochemists, but we all spend a lot of time with hair. You can decide the credibility…

First up… Marissa Barrett

Marissa’s Haircare Routine - in her own words

I would like say when it comes to my hair care I’m pretty low maintenance. Thanks to my colorist Nikki Chick, I only have to get Balayage highlights 3-4 times a year. The less bleach on my hair the better, so it doesn’t feel damaged or dry. I tend to love my hair most days when it’s at it’s natural, beachy texture, but I also love a good blow out with some of my favorite products—Those include Oribe Supershine Light Cream for some added shine/smoothing or Color Wow Dream Cocktail to help with any breakage I might have, and lastly I’ll spray some Catwalk Flexible Hairspray for hold.

My natural texture is pretty curly with some added frizz, but my life savior chemical treatment product is the Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment. The treatment tends to last 6 months in my hair, because I only shampoo 2-3 times a week. J Beverly Hills has a great shampoo and conditioner for anti-frizz, that is good to use after a Keratin Treatment. On the days I don’t shampoo, I usually grab a flatiron to add some bendy texture or a curling iron to make it look more refreshed or polished. My hair doesn’t normally get greasy but if it feels oily I will add some Oribe Dry Texture Spray to give it some volume and texture. My go to hair product I can’t live without would have to be J Platinum Styling Emulsion! It has ingredients like coconut oil and grape seed oil that help smooth and seal the hair, protects against humidity and gives beautiful shine!
